Goals of Misfits and Mutts

  1.      Pair at risk youth with dogs rescued from shelters to train the dogs increasing their adoptability to find them forever homes and help the youth gain respect and compassion for living things.

2.      Pair prisoners in long term correctional facilities with young rescued shelter dogs to train the orphaned dogs to provide services for the disabled, making it easier to find the dogs homes and more affordable for disabled individuals in the community to obtain a service animal.

3.      Start a therapy group of rescued dogs in the community to visit long term care facilities and hospitals in the community to provide healing therapy to patients.

4.      Rescue orphaned dogs from kill shelters and adopt them out to forever homes fitting the criteria set forth by the organization.

5.      Set up a low cost/no cost adoption program for elderly individuals in the community as well as a low cost feeding program for those individuals.

6.      Facilitate communication between shelters and rescue groups to help find orphaned animals forever homes.

7.      Promote spaying and neutering of pets in the community.
